Function and Application of Geomembrane
2023-01-13

Geomembrane is a waterproof and barrier material based on high polymer. Mainly divided into: low-density polyethylene (LDPE) geomembrane, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, and EVA geomembrane. The standard name is polyethylene geomembrane, which is mainly made of thermoplastic resin material polyethylene resin, which is milky white and semi transparent to opaque. Polyethylene is a high molecular polymer, a non-toxic, odorless, and odorless white particle with a melting point of approximately 110 ℃ -130 ℃, a relative density of 0.918-0.965; Geomembrane has good heat and cold resistance, good chemical stability, good rigidity and toughness, good mechanical strength, good environmental resistance to cracking and tear strength. As the density increases, the mechanical and barrier properties will correspondingly improve, and the heat and tensile strength will also be higher; Can withstand corrosion from acids, alkalis, organic solvents, etc.

Due to its good tensile strength, high impact strength, impermeability, acid and alkali resistance, heat resistance, weather resistance, and wear resistance, impermeable geomembranes have been widely used in the construction industry in coastal areas. It is also widely used in river embankments, reservoirs, diversion tunnels, highways, railways, airports, underground, underwater and other engineering projects.
